Respected representatives of Media

Meanwhile, we have read in the newspaper “Dawn” dated February 3, 2010, the article namely “Tajiks despire at Soviet-style election looms”, whose author is some Russian Roman Kozhevnikov. I don’t want to convey all of the meanings of that article to you, but it is an obvious dusty allegation and provocation before our parliamentary elections.
Particularly, the author notes: “Rakhmon, who led pro-Russian forces in a devastating 1992-1997 civil war against an alliance of Islamists and liberal democrats, is worried again”, while the President Imomali Rakhmon alone stopped the civil war. Achievement of the peace in Tajikistan is now indicated to be used in the present situation of Afghanistan as a sample.
The author blames Tajikistan in smuggling of drugs from Afghanistan, while our concerned law and force authorities seized 4.5 tons of narcotics in 2009, last year.
In another article the capital-Dushanbe city is described such “there has been virtuality no campaigning and only a handful of election posters adorn the streets of the capital Dushanbe, a city where bleak Soviet architecture contrasts starkly with neighborhoods of mud brick huts and donkey carts.”
Lots of Pakistanis including some of you visited Dushanbe and do you agree that Dushanbe is a city of donkey carts and dusty huts?
My country like many others, suffers from some problems, difficulties and off course, there is some deficiency. However, I am sure that this Kojevnikov has never been in Tajikistan. But is it possible that Pakistani Media particularly the correspondents of “Dawn” couldn’t find something else to publish about Tajikistan but only republished falsehood of Kozhevnikov? We want that the citizens of respected friendly Pakistan to have real information about our country, but not false ideas, which someone has like Kozhevnikov.
I have already been in Pakistan for more than 1 year and have been trying to observe all of the news and events published in the Pakistani media. Off course, during my observation, I pay a special attention to the material published about Tajikistan and the development of our relations and its prospects. For me, as an Ambassador, reading of the real information about my country gives me satisfaction.
