Visit of the Defense Minister of Tajikistan to Pakistan


A seven member Tajik Defense delegation, led by the Defense Minister of Tajikistan, Colonel General Khayrulloev Sherali Khayrulleovich, arrived on December 21, 2009 for three days visit to Pakistan. The delegation was received by Minister of State for Defense, Arbab Muhammad Zahir Khan and other senior defense officials of Pakistan at Chaklala Air Base. A Guard of Honor was given to the Tajik Defense Minister at Chaklala Air Base. The visiting dignitary reviewed the Guard and took the salute. A talking to the Minister of State for Defense, the Tajik Defense Minister said that his country accord greater importance to its ties with Pakistan and wanted to boost bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. He expressed the hope that his visit to Pakistan would further increase bilateral cooperation between the two countries.


Also Colonel General Khayrulloev Sherali along with official delegation called on Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani at the PM House. He expressed satisfaction on the signing of the MoU on Military and Military Technical Cooperation during the Tajik Defense Minister’s visit. The Tajik defense minister thanked the Prime Minister for converting the US $ 13 million loan to Tajikistan into grant. He also conveyed his government gratitude for Pakistan’s offer of enhanced gratis training slots for Tajik armed forces, and for sending Pakistani experts to develop Tajikistan's military institutions.
