Transport links to and abroad performing State Unitary Aviation Enterprise “Tajik Air”, State Unitary Enterprise “Rohee Ohani Tojikiston” and transport enterprises of international transportation.

Rail transport, as an essential strategic industry of the Republic of Tajikistan, plays a prominent role in needs of the economy and population, to transport cargo and passengers. National Operator is the State Unitary Enterprise “Rohee Ohani Tojikiston (SUE” ROT “).

The first train arrived in September 1929 to the railway station of the city Stalinabad, now the city of Dushanbe. Tajik railway until 1994 was part of the Central Asian Railway, and from October 1994 is the independent company.

In the railway segment was dealt: Sogdian in 1899, Dushanbe in 1929, Khatlon to Kurgan-Tube in 1974, and Kurgan-Tube – Kulyab in 1999.

The length of railways of the republic is 1260.9 km, including 679.9 km of main routes, access and station 270.8 km, which belong to SUE “ROT”, in other organizations, 310.2 km of access roads.

International passengers transport in the Russian Federation and Tajikistan. Tajik railway cooperation with all countries – members of CIS and Baltic States and is the rightful representative of the Organization of Railways Cooperation (ORC), IVF, UIC, TACIS and other influential international industry organizations. Cargo and passenger traffic with the outside world takes place through transport corridors, developed by international organizations.

In stock are:

  • Wagons – 2508 units, of which 1800 belong to SUE “ROT”, and 708 units belong to other organizations and private enterprises;
  • Passenger cars – 318 units, owned by GUP “ROT”;
  • Locomotives – 90 units, of which 57 units are owned SUE “ROT”, and 33 units of third parties.

Currently, Tajikistan has 4 international airports (Dushanbe, Khujand, Kulyab and Kurgan-Tube) to service the arrivals and departures of international flights that meet the requirements of the universally recognized instruments airfields and airports, as well as 11 internal (domestic) airports, which serving domestic flights to the country.

The airspace of the Republic of Tajikistan is also used for international overflights of aircraft performing flights from Europe to Asia and back, as well as flights from the Republic of Tajikistan in other states. All these flights are carried out on international air routes, which to date in the airspace of Tajikistan is estimated at 11. it should be also noted that for entry and exit from the airspace of the Republic of Tajikistan consists of 4 air corridor between Tajikistan and Afghanistan, 67 air routes from Uzbekistan and an air corridor to Kyrgyzstan. Thus, in 2006 in the airspace of Tajikistan serviced 20008 international flights and domestic flights 4220.

At this time, air traffic Tajikistan associates with third countries in the CIS (Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan) and 7-th-CIS countries (China, India, Afghanistan, Iran, UAE, Turkey, Germany).

Speaking of passengers and cargo air transport of the Republic of Tajikistan should be noted that the highest number of passengers and cargo accounts for the year 1991, when it was shipped 3 million 350 thousand passengers and 13204 tons. However, since 1992, a heavy decline in this area which lasted until 2000 and from 2001 gradually began to increase passenger and cargo and by 2004 it reached 560 thousand passengers and 4100 tons of cargo.

In the future, outlines the reconstruction of the international airports of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as the acquisition of foreign aircraft modifications, which will maintain and carry more passengers and cargo, as well as improve the quality of care and comfort of air passengers at airports and on aircraft with a high level of safety and security in air transport.
