Official Visit of The President of The Islamic Republic of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari to The Republic of Tajikistan
Bilateral, Trilateral and Quadrilateral meetings among the Presidents of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Russia and Tajikistan
The exchange of the official visits of the Presidents of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in 2002 and 2004 have opened a new page in the history of bilateral relations between the two countries and have laid a solid foundation for further development of relationship and have identified concrete directions and proper mechanism for implementation of around 20 bilateral documents.
In this regard, for the purpose of enhancing the cooperation, the Joint Ministerial Commission between two Governments was established and its First Session was held in May 2004 in Islamabad and 2nd JMC in October 2006 in Dushanbe. After the gap of three years, 3rd Session was organized in July 2009 in Islamabad.

In spite of the mutual cooperation continued in this period in the framework of the international organizations, particularly UN, OIC, ECO and SCO, however some stagnation was observed in bilateral relations.
It should be mentioned, that in order to bring out the relations from stagnation, the President of Tajikistan invited the President of Pakistan H.E. Mr.Asif Ali Zardari to pay official visit to Dushanbe. The invitation was pleasurely accepted and the visit was done by the President Asif Zardari.

By holding the last 3rd Session of JMC, the cooperation indeed started getting new impulse and two delegations from the both sides representing the different ministries could sign a new Protocol and agreed to hold next session of the Commission in 2011.
We know, that Pakistan was one of the first countries, which recognized the independence of the Republic of Tajikistan and established diplomatic relations in 1992.
Tajik-Pak relationship has deep roots in the history. During the medieval period, our people have been tied up by common culture and in particular by common literature.
During the difficult period of Tajik state building, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan rendered and still rendering disinterested assistance, constantly and firmly supported and supports the political course of H.E. President Emomali Rahmon, directed at establishing lasting peace, stability and national accord in the country, economic development, improving the living standard of the population, strengthening friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation with all countries of the world.
